Calia Read is an author that I always look forward to reading. When I seen that her newest book revolves around time travel, I was instantly intrigued and excited to read it. She definitely wrapped me around her finger with this book!"The only thing that seems to matter now is how I lived, how I loved, and what I sacrificed for that love."Serene Parow is the epitome of an old soul. She has such a drive and passion for all things from the past, that she owns her own antique shop with her best friend, Liz. She seems happy in the present time. She is engaged to her college boyfriend Will, trying to decide on a wedding date. She goes into work like any other normal day, and starts going through some boxes that Liz bought from a flea market. There is one picture in particular that calls to her. There is a mystery man in this photo that she had dreamed about the previous night. The dream felt so real and life like to her, that she can't stop starring at this photo. It becomes an obsession for Serene, trying to connect the dots surrounding her dream and this photo."Sometimes I think I'm strange, being obsessed with the past. But I believe that the past defines us. It's what brings us to now. "What a plot twist when Serene finds herself in the year 1912. She is frantic, trying to figure out how this happened and what can she do to travel back to the present day. She soon realizes that she is actually married to Etienne in 1912. This is the same man from the photo that she found. He seems gruff, unapproachable, but Serene knows that she has been pulled to the past for a reason. In order for her to discover what she is meant to do in the past, she has to be able to confide in Etienne, about who she really is. The more time these two spend together, the more obvious it becomes that they are meant to be together, no matter all the odds stacked against them."This connection we share is undeniable. It transcends time and all logic. Nevertheless, it's there. Utterly owning us and pushing us out of our comfort zones until all we have left to cling to is each other."I personally found this to be a very powerful and thought provoking novel. Everything is not always as it appears, sometimes we have to dig deep within ourselves to find the courage to keep moving forward. Serene was one of the most strong heroines that I have read in a long time. She lived vicariously, and enjoyed every moment. I was utterly and completely in love with Serene and Etienne. I was fascinated by all of it, the entire book. I felt as though I was a friend within their inner circle, and was watching them come together for the first time. The entire novel was described so well, that I could picture myself walking the grounds of Belgrave. I loved how this shows that love can transcend time."Love is hoarse cries. It's anger. It's sadness. It's happiness and laughter. It's everything wrapped into one. Love is one of the heaviest of words to exist. It's a miracle anyone survives it. It'll be a wonder if I survive it."

I got the book through Kindle Unlimited but it was so great I went ahead and bought it so I can reread it (and reread it). There are some stories that stay with you and this story will be one that you’ll not soon forget. I actually loaned it to my sister (the first time I’ve ever loaned an ebook to anyone) because I NEED people to read this tale. YOU need to read this tale. Trust me. It’s easily THE best book I’ve read in 2018.I don’t know where to begin other than to say Calia Read is an amazing author who has woven a tale of love that stands and spans time, decades, a century. Serene and Etienne have a love story borne that defies the confines of time. I held my breath, found myself smiling, felt my heart breaking only to be put together again. Rarely do you find a book in which you have no idea (truly, NO idea) what will happen, but in this book, every page unveils a new mystery. I could not put this book down....would not put this book down. I fell in love with both Etienne and Serene. Their characters are simply magical together and intriguing on their own. Ms. Read has accomplished a rare feat and created a time travel romance worthy of accolades.This story is beautiful. It’s magical. It will leave you breathless, happy, sad, longing for a time gone by, and rooting for a seemingly impossible love. I cannot wait to read more of Etienne and Serene’s unforgettable story. My heart will never be the same after this book and neither will yours. This is a must-read, cannot miss book.

I have read Calia’s works before, but this is the best I believe ever to grace us. Her storytelling has intensified to epic portions (for the better).I was so captivated and immersed in this journey from the very first word to the very last letter. Time Travel (check) , Mystery (check) and Historical Romance (check)- outstanding combination and beautifully written.It has been a very long time since I “felt†the emotions and attachments to fictional characters. I hate using the word “fictionalâ€, what an understatement. The descriptiveness of time and place, I automatically was transported, feeling like a bystander witnessing every happening. Did I mention it has been so long since experiencing the depth of feelings for the characters and having long lasting effects?“ I believe that relics from the past show what life truly is, they start out so beautifully, but slowly fade with timeâ€Time, I was on the edge of my seat throughout. Time was so precious for Serene and Etienne.“LOVE is one of the heaviest of words to existâ€â€œMy mom once told me to find a man who gazes at me as though I’m the Sun, Moon, and Stars.. she failed to tell me was how to move on from a love that spans decades†- insert punch to the heart- !!Serene was a religion , Etienne was a believer, they were meant to be right?!I slowly devoured this book, I knew from the beginning, I did not want it to end.
