When it comes to Golden Dawn magic there are very few books that may give you a hint on what is the work of the Adept other than path workings in the Tree of Life leading to and beyond Tiphareth. This is en excellent book to anyone who is willing to go the extra mile beyond the Middle Pillar Exercise and various pentagram and hexagram rituals. Well researched with coherent explanations of the Order symbology and clear examples of the possibilities that await those who actually took the time to do the preliminary work in the Outer. The rituals given are worth exploring and explained clearly enough to follow through. I recommend this one to anyone interested in the western mystery tradition.

Most excellent modern work on the Z documents. Highly recommended for Golden Dawn Practioners.or anyone who wants to study the mind of a true ceremonial magician.

This book offers great insights into the "z" documents. It has differed from other commentaries in that, the authors exegesis is profoundly researched, he offers his own insights on the matters, and it stays true to the facts found in the "z" papers. I appreciate how this author gets to the point and organizes his thoughts into headings. There is absolutely no fluff, each point is eloquently stated and well thought out. Where I think this book shines is its comparisons to Freemasonry and pagan ceremonies.

This book's been written by somebody firmly "in the know" when it comes to occultism and the Hermetic Golden Dawn tradition. Adept Magic in the Golden Dawn Tradition picks up where many introductory books conclude, and gives the creative and inquisitive magician a theoretical and practical means to take their ritual work to the next level. Of course, one needs a bit of experience to connect the gaps in the classical GD literature and see exactly how it all transfers over into Adept Magic, but it's a natural progression and I wouldn't say an impossible gap to cross whatsoever.As this book already says, it's been written by someone who's had a lot of first-hand experience and has done his fair share of experimentation to discover the ins and outs of their minds. As such, this book is an invaluable tool to anybody looking to further their progression along the path.I wouldn't say there's anything lacking from this book – it's an outflowing of both generosity and knowledge from one mind to many others. To have books like these out there is a service to many seekers and practitioners, as it wasn't that way when I was out and about, and so for occult books, Adept Magic raises the bar by its clarity of exposition and straightforwardness.

Outside of the Golden Dawn tradition this book will appear almost meaningless, but if you are a student of the Golden Dawn tradition, are familiar with the Temple in the 0=0, or have studied the Z-documents, this book is for you.I have just finished reading Adept Magic by Frater YShY cover to cover for the second time. This is not a book that reviews old material. My mind has been repeatedly blown by the waterfall of insights and information that pour out of this book. This book was recommended to me by a medium who said that starting out as a healer is a good way to develop mediumship. Much of the book didn't really apply to me, though, as at this point I don't see auras and so could not use the material. However, I kept the book just in case I develop the ability later on.If you can see auras, though, I imagine this book will be very helpful. There are a lot of charts and diagrams that relate to auras and medical problems.The most important thing that I did get was buried in the text near the end of the book: Having patience is a direct statement of faith in the Divine plan.

It's okay. I haven't finished reading it yet, but it's not quite what I expected. I thought it would be a guide on self-healing and how to work towards healing others through energy. The first part of the book was rather disappointing because it essentially said that the author has had an innate skill since childhood which has made her successful. It also seemed to imply that only through courses could one learn how to do what the book proposes. I'm not against courses, but I found this discouraging. I'm about half-way through with the book, but have yet to read about how to actually work towards healing for myself, let alone others. It does talk about auras and chakras which I have found interesting, and may find helpful as I try to learn more about this topic. I wish it discussed less about the author's personal experiences (cases with patients as well as the author's innate abilities) and more about how others might go about learning these techniques. Overall, this is not the book I thought it would be based on the glowing reviews.

I liked it. After I read it thoroughly I gave it to an acquaintance who had parkinson's. After reading it he applied what he learned to himself. He no longer shakes.

This book is useful if you already have psychic ability, but don't buy into her marketing that you can develop it to her level. You can't. You're born with psychism. You either have it or you don't. If you don't already see auras then you're not going to develop full on aura vision by studying this material. If you're already psychic, then this book sheds light on a lot of useful information. I have never seen such accurate aura diagrams or descriptions of why auras behave the way they do. Her study on this topic has been very thorough.From everything I know and have experienced personally, this book is very accurate. Some of it is going to be interpretive because Brennan is just one person and she doesn't represent the full world of psychic mediumship -- but nonetheless, her descriptions are the most accurate I have seen in modern published material. Often, new agers write books about mediumship, but they themselves have no real talent. As a result their information misleads others. Brennan's info is reliable.She gets demerits from me for two reasons. The first and most important is that her course-work empire has become disgustingly bloated and, as is typical of many American business practices, she has become a mogul. She's less accessible now than in her humble beginnings and her celebrity status makes me question her spiritual integrity a little bit. Through the material in this book, she holds expensive weekend workshops with various levels of graduation to psychic hopefuls who want to "heal" others with these new abilities. But they're all being duped. If you aren't a born medium then you'll never be one.The other demerit is that in the book, she can get very technical and heady. I didn't care for all the talk about NASA, frequencies and wavelengths. I'm psychic so you don't need to validate your perceptions to me. Just tell me what they are and I'll know if you're a faker or not. Fortunately, she is not a faker, but I could have done without all the scientific babble. Scientists don't believe psychics are real anyway so who cares.

It's a classic, but I find that it leaves no room for those who percieve energies in any way differeently from the way the author does. She is incredibly detailed as though there were only one way to view or detect very complex fields. I may be wrong, but I kept wanting to say, "Loosen up, Barbara!" That said, I thought the first part of the book was excellent.

This book is sort of an authority on the structure of the human energetic system, in my opinion. Barbara Brennan describes the human auric fields and the "chakras" within them in a way which shows considerable insight and is written in a precise and accessible way. However, just because it's "accessible" doesn't mean that it's a wham bam thank you ma'am kind of book- it's one to come back to, along with her follow-up book "Light Emerging".Other than the very good descriptions of the various levels of the human system, I found it particularly interesting that she describes the development of a human from birth (in fact, before birth) to adulthood. She talks about how the chakras develop and gives a fascinating perspective on very natural actions that children take, such as when they will nuzzle up to their parents.Also, she talks about various "defense mechanisms" that we have, and describes the inter-personal interactions that these bring about with other people. Reflecting on these phenomena from the perspective of a play of energy was quite fascinating, I thought.Overall, I would say that if you have any inclination to read something that will give you more insight into your physical/energetic/psychological/spiritual/combination-of-all-of-these makeup as a human being, give it a shot.

So much information in this book. This is a major contribution to the field of energetic healing, and is already a classic reference.Much recommended for energy workers.

I absolutely love Barbara, For her honesty and humility and courage to write about a subject this huge....as I have just entered into being a Holistic Healing Practioner Apprentice and look forward to this book on my next several re-reads. Marty Makary, MD, MPH, is a surgeon and Professor of Health Policy at Johns Hopkins University and the author of the New York Times bestseller, Unaccountable.
