HelI I still want a couple of green Orion slave girls and a pot of gold. So I recognize that I have a long way to go. I'm going to work on it. But I do seriously understand what Jesus was trying to get across to humanity then and now. This book bypasses the church in its message and thus couldn't be included in the bible.
This is what Jesus REALLY said, not just what those who've used religion for political purposes would tell you. If you research some about the early Christian church, you see quickly that, like everything else in the world, the drive for money and power put its stamp on conventional interpretations of what Jesus said, how he lived, and what he meant. To understand this, one has to look beyond just reading the 4 gospels.
The translation is rough - don't expect something of the quality of NIV, NLT, or even KJV. It's readable, but it is a tough read. Also realize that the Gospel of Thomas is mostly a quotes book.I don't buy that Thomas is the original author of this - the things written here that are not in the other gospels don't match up with the character of Jesus we see in the Bible - there are some things that sound mystic or Gnostic, meaning that I doubt it was even written in the first century. However, it is still an interesting readIf you are looking to read this out of curiosity, this is a great read. If you are expecting new revelation or anything, you are going to be disappointed.
I really like this read a lot. It gives the author’s interpretation with the way he believes they layout should be. But also gives the actual layout for you to decipher for yourself, which is exactly what I wanted. I much rather read it to myself and be guided by my own inner wise awareness. I do not like others to tell me what perspective I should take.
This and Didache fill gaps from four gospels. Pre Paul, so free from a Pharisee view on Christianity and interpretation of Jesus. While i have nothing against Pauls perspective, todays Christianith looks more like what Jesus railed against. It is nice to see what Jesus really taught.
WOW, whether part of Bible or not, this is ANOINTED! The Words of Jesus brought tears to my eyes as the magnified His truths and drew me closer to the realities we have in Him.
Recommend this to anyone seeking truth.
