I want to support artist, but honestly I really did not like this graphic novel. First was the coloring. The strong pink on black and white made reading and visually grasping images difficult. Second the storylines basically revolves around the characters meeting in Comic Con lobbies and the upper hotel rooms for various rendezvous, cool at first became flat and tired quick. Lastly the dialogue between characters was “elementary†concentrating more on using proper PC terms than character development.
This is basically a slice of life snippet of a couple of people at a convention and there are a couple of explicit but very feminist and queer sex scenes in between, including the normalization of consent! At first I found it hard to decipher who is who, as some of the characters look really similar, but once I got used to the characters and the couplings I could almost tell them apart. There is no over-arching plot but there is one sort of story about one character that is constant throughout. I enjoyed this much more than I expected, especially since the sex scenes and romantic scenes are so sweet. I might consider buying this.
I am incredibly glad I backed this Kickstarter. The book itself is beautifully printed and designed, and the content is lovely. It's funny, sexy, and so very sweet and hot at the same time. The cast of characters is colorful, fun, emotional, and striking. I loved the character designs, the cosplay and nerd references that make the book all the more sincere, and the small but effective character arcs in the book. Even if you don't cosplay, you will still appreciate the fandom/nerd/convention references and the complexities of friendship groups. I highly recommend this book!
